Image of Online Communication Iceberg Underwater Image #1 PCWallart http://pcwallart.com/image-post/180287-iceberg-underwater-wallpaper-2.jpg.html My experience to date using online communication for course facilitation has been limited. I chose my image, the tip of an iceberg, for two reasons. The first is that it demonstrates how much I have learned so far and how much more there is to learn. It is a daunting feeling every time a new course outline comes out and I wonder if I have the ability to do it. The second is that on the surface, an effective online teacher can make the creation of a successful online course look really simple. It’s not until you start reflecting on how the teacher built and mediated the course that you realize what lays under the surface for success to take place.

This is a great image, Lindsey, and so fitting to communication as there is always so much below the surface. When we communicate, our behaviour, or what we say, is the visible part, but there is so much more to relaying information - how does this transfer to online communication? As you said, on the surface it may look simple, but there are many underlying pieces that will determine success or lack of it. Thanks for this reflection. Comments are closed.
